Currently, the British crown dependency of Jersey has no legislation recognising same-sex civil partnerships.

The pressure group Progress Jersey, which has close links to the Jersey Conservative Party, has bought forward support for a civil partnership law similar to the civil partnership law in the UK.^[1] Following this, in 2006, senator Philip Ozouf brought forward his support. In May 2007 it was announced that a law would be drafted due for introduction in fourth quarter of 2008.

There is currently an online petition to push for a law to be debated in the States of Jersey.

According to a poll by the radio station Channel 103, two-thirds of Jersey people support a civil partnership law in the island.
